Welcome to Cumberland Trace Elementary School

This fall begins the 41st year of learning at Cumberland Trace Elementary School. The mission of our school is to provide an environment that allows every student the opportunity to become the best individual possible.  Our school building will be much improved this year as huge renovations have occurred over the summer.  We have new tile floors and new doors, freshly painted walls, lowered ceilings, improved lightning, new restrooms and sinks in all primary classrooms.  We are excited to have a fresh, clean modernized learning environment for our students.

Our school wide theme this year is Diversity.  Diversity is all around us.  We celebrate the diversity that all of our students and their families bring to our school.  We look for the talents and special interest of each of our students and build on these to help our students learn as much as they can.

We encourage family and community involvement in our school.  Our Volunteer Program (P.A.L.S. - People Affecting The Lives of Students) offers numerous opportunities at home, at school, and in the community for adults to contribute to student success.  All Cumberland Trace families are asked to volunteer in some way for a minimum of 10 hours.  Volunteering is an ideal way to meet and work with other parents and it is a great way to express your support for your child’s education.

Cumberland Trace is a participant in the GEMS Grant with Western Kentucky University.  The purpose of this 5 year grant is to encourage and prepare students to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics and science through providing increased learning opportunities for students and professional development for teachers in mathematics and science.

We invite all parents to visit often, come for lunch, and lend a hand as an active volunteer.  We want you to be part of the learning and the fun.

Welcome to the 2010 - 2011 school year.
